Harvey Soars to $15.5B Valuation Just Months After $11B Round
Harvey, the legal AI startup that has captured the attention of venture capitalists, has raised an additional $550 million at a $15.5 billion valuation. The company made the announcement on Wednesday, marking a rapid ascent in the competitive AI landscape.
This latest funding round, co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners, follows a $200 million round at an $11 billion valuation announced in March 2026. That March round itself came just months after an $8 billion valuation in December 2025. In roughly nine months, Harvey has nearly doubled its valuation, underscoring the intense investor demand for AI solutions tailored to specialized industries.
With this infusion, Harvey has raised over $1.55 billion in total funding. The company has completed at least eight priced rounds since 2023—five of them since 2025—according to Pitchbook data. While Harvey has not officially labeled the round, it likely represents a Series F, given that some previous rounds were classified as extensions. This financing structure mirrors trends seen across the AI sector, where companies like Databricks (which hit a $188 billion valuation in July 2026) prioritize growth over formal round labels.
The new capital arrives just weeks after Harvey unveiled its first in-house model, Harvey Tenet. Built from the open-weight Kimi K3 model and post-trained with legal data, Tenet was developed with the help of inference provider Fireworks, a company also known for assisting Cursor in training its proprietary model. Harvey is not only offering its own model but also encouraging customers to adopt and fine-tune open-weight models for their specific needs.
This strategic move positions Harvey as a trailblazer in demonstrating how an entire industry—law—can leverage AI extensively without depending on proprietary frontier labs such as OpenAI or Anthropic. By championing open-weight models, Harvey is fostering a more autonomous and customizable AI ecosystem for legal professionals, setting a precedent for other sectors to follow in 2026 and beyond.
