Deezer Will Soon Let You Filter Out AI-Generated Music

Deezer is doubling down on its commitment to helping users avoid AI-generated music. The streaming platform announced Tuesday that it is developing a new toggle that will allow users to filter out AI-generated tracks from its catalog. The feature is expected to roll out before the end of the year.

According to Deezer, enabling the toggle will prevent AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists from appearing in search results.

CEO Cites User Demand and Surging AI Uploads

"We've seen clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish," Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a statement.

Lanternier added that the explosive growth of AI music on the platform was a key driver behind the toggle feature. The company pointed to a survey from last year, which found that roughly 45% of Deezer users wanted a way to remove AI music from their feeds.

AI Music Now Dominates Daily Uploads

Deezer introduced AI-detection tooling last year and has been tracking upload volumes ever since. At the time of the tool's launch, AI-generated tracks accounted for 10% of daily uploads. By July 2026, that figure had surged past 50%, with an average of 90,000 tracks uploaded per day.

Competitors Take Varying Approaches

Other music streaming services have adopted their own policies regarding AI music:

  • Bandcamp has completely banned AI tracks from its platform.
  • Tidal has cut off monetization for users uploading AI music.
  • Spotify has taken a lighter approach, tagging AI tracks and artists more prominently while excluding their music from recommendations.

In August 2026, Variety reported that Apple Music was also planning to label AI-generated tracks by the end of the year. Beyond platform-based tagging, users are increasingly turning to independent tracking systems to identify AI music.

As AI-generated content continues to flood streaming platforms, Deezer's new filter represents one of the most direct attempts yet to give listeners control over what they hear.
