A Major Overhaul for Siri
The Siri that ships with iOS 27 is not the Siri you've known for the past decade. Rebuilt on top of Apple Intelligence and a new large language model foundation, the assistant is now conversational, context-aware, and capable of handling multi-step tasks across apps. In 2026, with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, Apple is positioning Siri as a genuine AI assistant rather than a voice command parser.
Here's everything you can do with the new Siri AI.
Natural, Multi-Turn Conversations
You no longer have to phrase requests in rigid commands. Siri AI maintains context across a conversation, so you can ask follow-up questions without repeating yourself. Ask "What's the weather in Tokyo next week?" and then simply "Book a hotel there for three nights" β Siri understands "there" refers to Tokyo and remembers the dates.
On-Screen Awareness
Siri AI can now see what's on your screen and act on it. Highlight an address in Messages and ask Siri to add it to your calendar. View a photo of a restaurant and ask for reservations. This screen-aware capability works across apps, making the assistant feel like a genuine collaborator rather than a separate tool.
Cross-App Actions
With the new App Intents framework, Siri can chain actions across multiple apps in a single request. For example: "Find the PDF Sarah sent me last week, summarize it, and email the summary to my team." Siri locates the file, generates the summary, and drafts the email β all in one go.
Deeper Personal Context
Siri AI can draw on your messages, emails, calendar, and notes to answer personal questions. Ask "When is my mom's flight landing?" or "What did I promise to bring to the meeting?" and Siri surfaces the answer from your own data. All personal context processing happens on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, with Apple emphasizing privacy at every step.
Generative Creation
Beyond retrieval, Siri AI can generate content. Ask it to draft a reply, write a poem, create an image with Image Playground, or compose a quick summary of a long article. Genmoji and custom emoji creation are also built in, letting you generate reactions on the fly.
Smarter Hands-Free Control
Voice control is more precise. Siri AI can navigate complex menus, fill forms, and complete transactions with confirmation prompts. In the car, with CarPlay, it can handle messages, navigation, and music with fewer misunderstandings thanks to improved natural language understanding.
What's Still Limited
Apple continues to roll features out gradually. Some capabilities, like advanced cross-app chaining, are limited to newer iPhone models with sufficient on-device compute. Third-party app support depends on developers adopting App Intents. And while Siri AI is vastly improved, it still isn't a fully autonomous agent β you remain in the loop for consequential actions.
