Digit 5 May Be the First Humanoid Robot Worker That's Truly Safe

Agility Robotics' latest is big enough, and safe enough, to do useful work

As humanoid robots edge closer to commercial deployment in 2026, the critical question isn't whether they can perform tasksβ€”it's whether they can do so safely alongside human workers. Agility Robotics' Digit 5 may have finally cracked that code.

Agility doesn't have Digit 5 deployed in factories yet, but the hardware is real. Standing tall with a teal-colored exterior and arms bent at the elbow, the robot represents a significant step forward in practical humanoid design.

The latest iteration is big enough, and safe enough, to do useful workβ€”a combination that has eluded many competitors in the rapidly evolving humanoid robotics space.
