I Spent a Day Testing Every Major AI Agent—Here's the One That Came Out on Top
I ranked six AI agents—from Meta's Muse to Anthropic's Claude Duet—on how well they completed basic tasks.

By late 2026, AI agents have moved well beyond chat windows. The major labs now ship autonomous systems that can browse, book, buy, schedule, and execute multi-step tasks on your behalf—and the competition has never been fiercer. To find out which one actually delivers, I put six of the biggest names through the same practical gauntlet over a single, grueling day.
The lineup included Meta's Muse, Anthropic's Claude Duet, and four other flagship agents from the industry's leading players. Rather than grading them on benchmark scores or flashy demos, I focused on one question: how well does each agent handle the ordinary, everyday tasks people actually need done?
How I Tested
Each agent faced an identical set of real-world assignments, including:
- Researching and summarizing a multi-source topic
- Booking a reservation or appointment end to end
- Managing an inbox and drafting replies
- Comparing purchases and completing a checkout flow
- Coordinating a simple multi-step project across apps
I scored each agent on task completion, accuracy, speed, and how much supervision it required. Autonomy matters—but so does knowing when to stop and ask.
The Results
The rankings separated the genuinely useful from the merely impressive. Some agents excelled at structured, well-defined tasks but faltered the moment a webpage changed or a form threw an unexpected field. Others were slower but far more reliable, checking in at the right moments instead of barreling ahead.
The Verdict
One agent consistently finished tasks with minimal hand-holding and the fewest errors—emerging as the best overall pick for everyday use. The full breakdown, including where each contender stumbled, is below.
