Google's Gemini assistant can now place phone calls on your behalf, thanks to a new feature debuting exclusively on the Pixel 11 series. Dubbed Call for Me, the tool marks Google's latest push toward agentic AI—systems that don't just answer questions but actually take action in the real world.
What Call for Me Does
With Call for Me, Pixel 11 owners can ask Gemini to dial a business, navigate an automated phone tree, wait on hold, and hold a natural-sounding conversation with a human representative on the other end. Whether you're booking a restaurant reservation, checking a store's inventory, or chasing down a customer-service issue, the assistant handles the back-and-forth and reports back with a summary.
The feature builds on Google's earlier Duplex technology, which first demonstrated AI-driven phone calls in 2018. But where Duplex was limited to narrow tasks like reservations, Call for Me is positioned as a general-purpose calling agent—one that can adapt to unpredictable conversations in real time.
