AI Assistant Startup Town Hits Unicorn Valuation Just Four Months After Public Launch

Town, a two-year-old San Francisco startup building AI assistants, secured unicorn status on Monday with the announcement of a $108 million Series B funding round co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures. The company only launched publicly four months ago and says it reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks. Including a previously announced $55 million Series A in June, Town has now raised at least $160 million to date.

A Crowded Market, a Workplace Focus

Founded by former Plaid CTO Jean-Denis Greze, Town is one of many AI assistants entering the market in 2026. The company focuses on businesses, giving each employee a personal AI assistant called a Townie that helps with tasks by connecting to tools such as email and calendars, along with other core work systems. Employees' Townies can communicate with one another and share approved information, and they can now also interact with customers and other external parties.

Shared Workflows Reduce Manual Upkeep

Alongside the funding, Town announced a shared workflow that automatically updates employees' Townies with new business information, eliminating the need for each worker to update their own assistant manually. Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital also participated in the round.
