If you follow tech news and love messy drama, 2026 is shaping up to be a banner year. This fall alone, we're getting a Nathan Fielder documentary about Elizabeth Holmes in theaters โ and now Netflix has dropped the trailer for The Altruists, its dramatic retelling of the FTX collapse that sent Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison to prison.
The series premieres on November 19, just in time for Thanksgiving โ assuming, of course, that another infamous Sam doesn't upend our holiday plans again.

The show stars Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Caroline Ellison. Here's the trailer:
From effective altruism to prestige TV
Few would have predicted that the ethical contradictions at the heart of effective altruism would capture Hollywood's imagination quite like this. But if anyone can do justice to the sheer strangeness of this saga, Netflix is well positioned to try.
"From the very beginning, I was so fascinated by both Sam's and Caroline's real stories," co-showrunner Graham Moore told Netflix in an interview this summer. "Those are both characters I could not have possibly made up had I tried โ I'm not nearly a good enough writer to create characters as fascinating as either Sam Bankman-Fried or Caroline Ellison."
As the FTX saga continues to reverberate through the crypto industry and beyond in 2026, The Altruists arrives as a cultural bookend to one of the most dramatic collapses in tech history.
