Xbox's Mythic Achievements Arrive, Mirroring PlayStation Platinum Trophies

Xbox Insiders can test the new Mythic Achievements starting today.

A New Tier of Achievement

In a move that brings Xbox's achievement system closer to PlayStation's trophy structure, Microsoft has begun rolling out Mythic Achievements to Xbox Insiders. These new achievements act as a capstone for individual games, requiring players to unlock all other achievements before they can earn the Mythic oneβ€”much like PlayStation's Platinum trophies.

How Mythic Achievements Work

According to details shared with testers, Mythic Achievements are designed to recognize full completion of a game's achievement list. Once a player has unlocked every standard achievement in a supported title, the Mythic Achievement will automatically unlock, appearing with a distinct, ornate design in the achievements UI.

The feature is currently available only to Xbox Insiders, with a broader rollout expected later in 2026 depending on feedback.

What This Means for Players

For achievement hunters, this adds a long-requested completionist milestone. While Xbox has previously offered Gamerscore as a cumulative measure of achievement progress, there has been no single in-game badge to signify 100% completion. Mythic Achievements fill that gap and provide a clearer, more visible indicator of mastery.

2026 Context

The introduction of Mythic Achievements comes amid increased competition among console platforms to enhance player engagement and reward systems. With PlayStation's trophy system long considered the gold standard for completion tracking, Xbox's move signals a continued effort to refine its own ecosystem and offer comparable prestige for dedicated players.

As of early 2026, Microsoft has not announced a specific public release date for Mythic Achievements, but Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback through the Xbox Insider Hub.
