Elon Musk's tunneling venture, The Boring Company, has raised $3 billion in a Series D funding round, bringing its valuation to $23 billion. The round was led by the United Arab Emirates, which also announced plans to collaborate with the company on digging more than 150 kilometers of tunnels across the Middle Eastern nation. Other participants included Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, Human Capital, Vy Capital, and Valor Equity Partners.
In July 2026, The Wall Street Journal reported that The Boring Company was seeking to raise as much as $4 billion, indicating strong investor interest despite broader market uncertainty.
To date, The Boring Company has focused most of its tunneling efforts in Las Vegas, Nevada, where it operates a network of tunnels connecting hotel casinos and the convention center. In 2025, the company also began work on a project in Nashville, Tennessee, which will feature a 10-mile underground "loop." The company's stated mission is to "solve traffic" by moving vehicle travel into a three-dimensional underground network of tunnels.
This latest funding round and the UAE partnership mark a significant step in The Boring Company's international expansion. With $3 billion in fresh capital and a $23 billion valuation, the company is poised to accelerate its tunneling projects, particularly in the Middle East, where demand for innovative infrastructure solutions continues to grow.
