Apple Reportedly Cuts Hundreds of Jobs Across Siri and Vision Pro Teams

Apple is reducing its workforce across multiple teams, including the team behind its struggling Vision Pro headset and those working on Siri and AI integration, according to a recent Bloomberg report. The layoffs, which total over 200 positions, include approximately 100 roles from the Vision Pro team. The remaining 100 cuts affect the Siri team and another group called Intelligent Systems Experience, which focuses on integrating AI into Apple's devices. Sources indicate that Apple is reorganizing these teams to prioritize its newer AI initiatives and upcoming hardware. Apple confirmed the cuts to Bloomberg, stating that it is looking "to evolve our business to deliver the best experiences for our users." The company added, "While we will create new roles as part of this change, it will also impact a limited number of existing roles." TechCrunch has reached out to Apple for further comment. This move comes during a period of significant transition for Apple. The company is working to strengthen its position in the AI space, while also grappling with a global memory shortage that has driven up production costs for its flagship products. In response, Apple raised prices on Macs and iPads earlier this summer and recently introduced a leasing program for its major hardware products to attract a wider customer base. Additionally, Apple is currently engaged in a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of trade secret theft.
