Singer and actress Selena Gomez, along with her mother, faces a lawsuit over their mental health startup, Wondermind. The plaintiffs claim they invested nearly $1.2 million in the venture and accuse Gomez of securities fraud and breach of contract.
The investors allege that Wondermind failed to meet its commitments without notifying them, and that Gomez did not fulfill a promise to market the startup. Forbes first reported the news.
Allegations and Background
Wondermind, launched in 2021, aimed to provide daily mental health resources to users. According to the lawsuit, investors remained unaware of the company's troubles until a September 2025 investigation by The Cut brought them to light.
The complaint states: βGomez purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then ignored it. The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built. And for three years, while the Company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers, or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse.β
The investors further claim that Gomez and Wondermind misrepresented the company's financial health and overstated Gomez's level of involvement. They are seeking to recover their investments and legal fees. Wondermind has not responded to requests for comment.
