Meta Quietly Launches Style Sketch, an AI Fashion App That Styles the Clothes You Already Own
Meta has quietly launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app that helps users assemble outfit ideas from clothes they already own. The app connects to Instagram to build a virtual closet from photos users have already posted, or lets them add items manually by snapping a photo, recording a short video, or uploading images from their camera roll.
Style Sketch then suggests outfit combinations drawn from the user's wardrobe and matched to their personal style. Users can also try on the outfits on a "realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone," according to the app description.
Availability and Rollout
The app, first spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra, is available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on iOS and Android. Meta did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment, and it remains unknown whether the company plans a wider launch.
Core Features
Beyond auto-generated suggestions, users can select a specific item from their wardrobe and receive fresh outfit ideas built around it, according to the app description.
Style Sketch also supports trip planning. After entering a destination, trip length, and planned activities, users receive a day-by-day outfit plan that factors in the weather forecast and itinerary.
Navarra's post highlighted the app's key selling points: AI outfits built from clothes you own, virtual try-ons matched to your body, weather-based looks, and trip packing plans.
A Crowded but Maturing Market
Several apps already use AI to help users digitize their wardrobes and visualize new outfits, including startups like Alta. Even Google Photos offers tools that turn photos of clothing into digital closets where users can create new outfit ideasβa space that has grown notably more competitive through 2026.
To stand out, Meta will likely lean less on the novelty of the concept and more on the app's integration with Instagram, where users already maintain a visual record of their personal style.
Part of a Broader App Push
Style Sketch is one of many AI apps Meta has shipped in recent months. Most recently, the company launched Waddle World, which resembles a Tamagotchi clone powered by AI. Meta has also released Pocket, a tool for vibe-coding games, and Vibes, which lets users quickly generate AI-powered videos.
The wave of new releases reflects a broader strategic shift at Meta. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees the company plans to release far more apps than it has historically, as AI-driven efficiencies have made it faster and easier to ship new products.
