Eric Schmidt Reportedly Holds Roughly Half of Dario Amodei's

Eric Schmidt's Anthropic Stake Nears Amodei's

Eric Schmidt's fortune is set to grow substantially. According to Bloomberg, the former Google CEO owns about 1% of Anthropic following a tens-of-millions-of-dollars investment in the leading AI lab's Series A round in 2021. PitchBook data shows the startup was valued at $461 million at the time.

If Bloomberg's estimate is accurate, Schmidt's stake is remarkably large relative to the roughly 2% held by co-founder and CEO Dario Amodeiβ€”meaning Schmidt owns about half as much of the company as its chief executive. Anthropic is widely expected to go public before the end of 2026, with top-end market estimates valuing the company at as much as $2 trillion. At that valuation, Schmidt's stake could add as much as $20 billion to his net worth, which Bloomberg currently pegs at $57.5 billion.

A Long Track Record as a Tech Investor

Schmidt has been an active tech investor since stepping down as Google CEO in 2011. He deploys capital through multiple entities, including Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, and his family office, Hillspire. His other AI bets include Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI.
