Rather than downloading yet another app, a growing number of AI agents can simply be texted like an ordinary contact.
You text them what you need, and they can remember context, connect to the apps and services you already use, and complete tasks on your behalf. That might mean scheduling an appointment, organizing a calendar, researching a trip, sending an email, making a reservation, shopping online, or reminding you about something days later.
As of 2026, this space is heating up fast. Instinct is one of the buzziest players at the moment, thanks to a $1 billion funding round that pushed its valuation to $10 billion. But it's far from alone—numerous other companies are making a play for text-based AI agents.
Below are some of the most notable options so far, from general-purpose personal assistants to agents designed specifically for families, travel, and work.
Caddy
Caddy is an AI assistant that turns the information scattered across your phone into things you can actually act on. It lives in iMessage for iPhone users and RCS for Android users, so there's no separate app or inbox to constantly check.
For instance, an email might contain an appointment that needs to be added to your calendar, or a friend might send a list of things to pick up. Instead of worrying about the details getting buried, Caddy connects to your calendars and conversations, then identifies items that may require action. It can add events to your calendar, set reminders, track follow-ups, and even do research on your behalf.
Caddy has been available in public beta since April 2026.
Fambot
Fambot is a group-chat-focused AI agent designed to help families—the kind of people who are often too busy to keep track of their own schedules.
