Google's AI Mode Now Tracks Flight Prices and Books Hotels

Google is expanding AI Mode, its conversational search experience, with new trip-planning and booking capabilities, the company announced on Thursday. Users can now ask AI Mode to track flight prices, book hotels, and view the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles.

These updates signal Google's ambition to position AI Mode as a full-fledged AI travel agent, moving beyond information retrieval to actively manage parts of the trip-planning and booking process. As of 2026, this trend reflects a broader industry shift toward AI-driven travel assistance.

Flight Price Tracking

Users can now describe their desired travel dates and destinations to AI Mode, and the tool will present the best available options with current pricing from more than 300 airlines and travel sites. If they're ready to commit, they can build their itinerary directly within AI Mode. For those who prefer to wait for better deals, they can simply say, "track these flight prices for me."

If prices change for the specified destination and dates, users receive an email notification. Flight price tracking in AI Mode is now available in more than 180 countries, a significant expansion from its initial rollout.

Hotel Booking Integration

For accommodations, users can discover and book hotels through a natural conversation with AI Mode. By sharing trip details and preferences, users receive a curated list of options along with reviews and key factors like location, amenities, and pricing.

Once they've found a suitable hotel, users can ask AI Mode to help complete the booking. They then select the "Continue on Google" option, which connects to Google's integrated partners, including hotel chains and travel sites.

From there, users can choose their room, review details such as the cancellation policy, and finalize the booking with Google Pay. Google notes that the hotel or booking platform handles the actual reservation and any subsequent customer service, ensuring a seamless experience.
