Viral AI Startup Instinct Raises $350 Million at $2.5 Billion Valuation
Instinct, a startup founded just last year by a 23-year-old entrepreneur, has leveraged surging AI enthusiasm to achieve a staggering valuation over the summer. The company, which offers an AI assistant that has quickly captured user interest, secured $250 million in a new Series B funding round, as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. This latest investment brings Instinct's total funding to $350 million and values the company at $2.5 billion.
The round was co-led by Index Ventures and Benchmark, according to the Journal. Instinct, operated under Spear Street Technology and founded by Noah Shinn, provides an AI agent designed to streamline personal organization. Users connect the assistant to their apps and devices, interacting with it via text messages and phone calls.
Shinn expressed enthusiasm on Twitter: “I’m thrilled with everything our early users are doing with Instinct. They’ve told us they’ve planned cross-country road trips, bought weekly groceries and concert tickets, and cancelled hundreds of dollars of subscriptions. Someone’s even planning their wedding with Instinct.”
Despite its grassroots appeal and a deliberately lo-fi website, Instinct is currently in private beta and has sparked debate over privacy and security. Users have raised concerns about the app’s extensive permissions and its terms of use, which some find potentially invasive. As the AI landscape evolves in 2026, Instinct’s rapid growth highlights both the opportunities and challenges of consumer AI adoption.
