Anthropic has been aggressively expanding its cloud partnerships, and its latest move is a reported $10 billion deal with AI cloud startup Volta. Bloomberg first reported the agreement, which will see Volta provide cloud compute to the Claude maker over a six-year period. Volta, founded earlier this year, will work with crypto-mining firm Bitdeer to develop a data center in Norway that will deliver 133 megawatts of capacity, powered by Nvidia's state-of-the-art Vera Rubin AI chip architecture.
Volta is part of Nvidia's Cloud Partner program, a consortium of AI cloud providers using Nvidia GPUs. The startup had previously hinted at a deal with an AI lab but did not name the client. Bloomberg cited anonymous sources familiar with the matter, and TechCrunch has reached out to Anthropic for comment.
This partnership is part of Anthropic's broader strategy to secure massive compute resources as it competes with rivals. The company recently announced similar agreements with SpaceX and Amazon, underscoring its push to scale infrastructure for advanced AI models.
