Martha Stewart is entering the AI era in a way only she can: by co-founding Hint, a new app that uses artificial intelligence to manage home maintenance and operations. Launched today, Hint helps homeowners with maintenance schedules, energy management, soil and air quality insights, insurance claim guidance, and more. The app also serves as a digital repository for contracts, invoices, and home-related documents — all searchable via its built-in AI assistant.
Co-founder Kyle Rush, Hint’s CTO based in New York, says that Stewart — who lives nearby — is “very involved” with the startup. She holds a meaningful equity stake, contributes actively to product development, and is not simply a figurehead. “I go over about twice a week,” Rush explains. “We sit down and look at the app, and she scrutinizes what it says — when it’s wrong about soil, she’ll say it; when something about the home isn’t right, she’ll mention it. She comments on my designs, our branding, and the language. She’s deeply involved.”
Originally conceived in 2024 as a tool to help users navigate home decarbonization incentives, Hint quickly pivoted. “We realized, why can’t this be the AI for your home? People don’t really have an app to manage their homes… so we pivoted,” Rush says.
Hint joins a growing trend of AI applications moving beyond chatbots to solve real-world problems. With Stewart’s hands-on expertise in home and hospitality, the app aims to deliver a uniquely polished, practical experience for modern homeowners.
