Spur Intelligence, a cybersecurity startup headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida, has closed a $200 million funding round led by Insight Partners. The company specializes in helping enterprises distinguish legitimate human users from increasingly sophisticated bot traffic, enabling organizations to identify fake users and potential threats.
Founded in 2017 by two former U.S. Department of Defense engineers—well before the public launch of ChatGPT in late 2022—Spur was early to recognize the growing challenge of bot detection. As of mid-2026, bots have become more active on the internet than humans, according to a recent Cloudflare report. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince noted on X that this milestone arrived sooner than anticipated, citing the rapid growth of agentic traffic as a key driver.
“As sophisticated criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure proliferate, organizations are increasingly operating with a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it,” said Insight’s Thomas Krane in a prepared statement.
While detecting malicious traffic has long been a priority for corporate security teams, the scale of the challenge today is unprecedented. Spur’s technology addresses this by unmasking the infrastructure behind anonymized bot activity, providing enterprises with clearer visibility into who—or what—is interacting with their systems.
