By Michal Sutter โ October 3, 2026
DeepSeek has released an official desktop app for DeepSeek Harness (dsh), its open-source agent harness. The app ships alongside the v0.2 preview, with installers available for macOS (Apple silicon) and Windows (64-bit).
Is it deployable today? Yes โ as a preview. You can download it from deepseek.com/harness or run npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web. DeepSeek cautions that compatibility-breaking changes will follow in subsequent releases.
What Shipped in v0.2
A harness is the runtime that turns a model into an agent โ it reads files, executes commands, and maintains a plan. The v0.2 preview targets everyday work as well as coding tasks. Key additions include:
- Built-in capabilities: Commonly used tools for office work and software development now come preloaded.
- Plugin management: A dedicated page lets you install, configure, enable, and disable plugins.
- File and diff review: A right-hand sidebar previews generated files and code changes.
- Document work: Users can send documents, spreadsheets, or PDFs and request charts or slides.
- Automation Task: A plugin schedules recurring prompts, complete with run history and editable frequency.
The desktop build also bundles the dsh command, eliminating the need for a separate Node.js or pnpm install. Users can sign in with a DeepSeek account or supply an API key. According to the rc.1 release notes, account-based models get web search without requiring an additional key.
