SpaceXAI Releases Grok 4.6: A 500K-Context Frontier Model Tuned for Long-Running Agents, Coding, and Knowledge Work

SpaceXAI has unveiled Grok 4.6, a post-training upgrade over its predecessor Grok 4.5, rather than a larger base model. The company kept the foundational architecture intact and focused improvements on an extended supplementary training run, regenerated supervised fine-tuning trajectories, and reinforcement learning within agentic environments. This yields agents that can sustain tasks across many steps without drifting.


Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index—five points higher than Grok 4.5 and tied with GPT-5.6 Sol Max. The model supports up to 500,000 context tokens and is available today in Cursor and Grok Build, adding a new xhigh reasoning-effort tier above the levels offered with Grok 4.5.

The model is generally available through the xAI API as grok-4.6, serves as the default in Grok Build, ships in Cursor on all plans, and is accessible via OpenRouter, Vercel, and Cloudflare.
