OpenClaw Releases iOS and Android Companion Node Apps That Connect a Phone to a Self-Hosted AI Agent Gateway
OpenClaw has launched native companion apps for iOS and Android, enabling users to connect their smartphones directly to a self-hosted AI agent gateway. The open-source assistant pairs a phone with the Gateway, adding capabilities such as camera input, location tracking, voice interaction, and Canvas support to the agent's functionality.
The iOS app, titled 'OpenClaw – AI that does things,' is now available on the Apple App Store, while the Android version can be downloaded via Google Play. These companion nodes extend the reach of OpenClaw's self-hosted gateway, allowing mobile devices to serve as intelligent peripherals for AI-driven tasks. By integrating phone sensors and interfaces into the agent's ecosystem, OpenClaw aims to bridge the gap between cloud-based AI and mobile hardware, offering users greater flexibility in deploying AI agents for real-world applications.
As of June 2026, the apps represent a significant step in OpenClaw's strategy to make self-hosted AI more accessible and context-aware, leveraging the ubiquity of smartphones to enhance agent capabilities without relying on third-party cloud services.
