Google Rolls Out New AI Study Tools Across Search and Gemini

Google announced a comprehensive set of new study tools on Wednesday, spanning both Search and its AI assistant Gemini. The features include AI-generated interactive visuals, 3D simulations, a dedicated student hub, personalized practice quizzes, and more — marking the company’s latest push to position Gemini as the go-to AI assistant for learning.

This move intensifies competition with OpenAI and education-focused startups such as Knowt and Gauth, which already offer their own learning and practice solutions. By embedding these tools directly into Search and Gemini, Google aims to make studying more accessible and interactive for students worldwide.

Interactive Visuals and Simulations in Search

One of the key highlights is the ability for students to generate custom tools and simulations directly in Search. For example, searching for “pH scale” now returns an interactive visual in AI Overviews, making complex topics easier to grasp. Students can take it a step further by asking follow-up questions like “plot citrus fruits on the pH scale” — AI Mode in Search will then create a tailored interactive experience based on the query.

Personalized Practice Quizzes

Users can now receive customized practice quizzes on demand, covering subjects like science, math, humanities, and foreign languages. For instance, a student preparing for the SAT can enter a prompt such as “Create a quiz with the most commonly tested vocabulary words to help me prep for the SAT,” and Search will generate an interactive quiz instantly.

Lens-Powered Problem Solving

In the coming weeks, Google Lens will introduce a new interactive learning experience. Students can use the Lens camera icon in the Google app to upload a photo of a problem they’re working on. The AI will then explain the underlying concept, identify potential errors, and offer guidance when they’re stuck.

Creating Study Documents from Uploads

Additionally, students can ask Search to generate study documents based on uploaded files, such as lecture notes, PDFs, or slides. This feature simplifies organization and helps learners create structured study guides with minimal effort.

Dedicated Student Hub in Gemini

A newly introduced student hub consolidates Gemini’s educational features, making it easier for learners to access writing support, research assistance, and study planning tools. This centralized space is designed to streamline the study process, from brainstorming ideas to preparing for exams.

As the 2026 school year begins, these updates reflect a broader industry trend toward AI-driven, personalized education. By integrating learning tools directly into its core products, Google is positioning itself as a central player in the education technology space — offering students a seamless, intelligent study experience.
